I am Ruth Howard mother of Harry 4 and educator. I’ve been a Chef and Textile Artist and now I’m an emerging Food and Textile Technology teacher. The interactive dialogue that blogging facilitates ensures my own Personal Learning Network.
I see the Educational Technology sphere as part of a new paradigm, one of transparency, accountability, service and collaboration. I’m grateful to be part of this changed perception about human learning and work. The old paradigm cant die quick enough. This diagram illustrates the result of the old paradigm’s excesses.
The Tipping Point courtesy Dave Gray found on Visthink. In my mind it is the unseen centre that permeates this triad. When the Spiritual (God/Children/Earth) are placed at the centre of our lives then I believe everything that is disconnected will re-member. I see the emphasis on community, learning communities in this case as primal to that reconnection. Education is the glue that can meld these ideals. I revise this learning (to make connections) is the glue. Unfortunately education is the method that upholds the current crumbling paradigm.
